Suggested Use: 4 capsules per day, in divided doses, between meals.
What Is It?
Uric Acid Formula provides vitamins and herbal extracts to support healthy uric acid metabolism by promoting healthy liver enzyme activity, immune activity and alkalization.*
Uses For Uric Acid Formula
Uric Acid Metabolism: Uric acid is a natural end product of purines, an integral part of the nucleic acids in DNA and RNA. In a recent population-based study involving almost 1,400 men from the Health Professionals Follow-up Study, vitamin C intake was associated with healthy serum uric acid metabolism. In another double blind, placebo-controlled trial, vitamin C supplementation supported healthy glomerular filtration and maintained healthy serum uric acid excretion. The bioflavonoid quercetin has been associated with similar effects by maintaining proper xanthine oxidase and xanthine dehydrogenase activity, key liver enzymes involved in uric acid production. Potassium citrate is included to support systemic alkalization. Urinary alkalization promotes healthy uric acid metabolism. Devilís claw and the proteolytic enzyme bromelain support immune mediator activity. Cherries have been used traditionally for decades to enhance healthy uric acid metabolism. Research indicates that regular cherry consumption maintains healthy plasma urate. Additionally, anthocyanins in cherries and grape seed act as free radical scavengers.*
What Is The Source?
Ascorbic acid is derived from corn dextrose fermentation. Potassium is derived from earthen ore. Devilís claw extract is derived from Harpagophytum procumbens root and standardized to contain a minimum of 5% harpagosides. Black cherry extract (10:1) is derived from Prunus serotina Ehrh. Quercetin is derived from Japanese pagoda tree (Sophora Japonica) flower buds. Bromelain is derived from pineapple stem. Grape seed extract is derived from Vitis vinifera and standardized to contain 92% polyphenols. Ascorbyl palmitate is derived from corn dextrose fermentation and palm oil.
Are There Any Potential Side Effects Or Precautions?
If pregnant or lactating, consult your physician before taking this product. This product is not intended to replace any dietary protocols recommended by a health professional. Bromelain and devil’s claw have caused GI upset, heartburn, nausea or diarrhea in some individuals. Rarely, devil’s claw has been associated with skin reactions, hemodynamic instability or dysmenorrhea. Consult your physician for more information.
Are There Any Potential Drug Interactions?
Individuals taking ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers or potassium-sparing diuretics may require monitoring of potassium levels. Theoretically, wild cherry and/or devil’s claw may alter the way that the liver breaks down medications metabolized by the cytochrome p450 system, altering the effects of these medications and possibly the dose needed for treatment. Bromelain, grape seed extract and devil’s claw may be contra-indicated with blood thinning medications. Quercetin is contra-indicated with immune suppressive medications. Bromelain and quercetin may be contra-indicated with certain antibiotics. Consult your physician for more information.
